What's Next?

Before beginning this article, we here at 223Nation would like to apologize for the lack of updates here on the site. After the shocking1 decision to ratify this latest piece of garbage, we had to step back and do a bit of re-evaluating. After several meetings with the founders of the Nation, we have come up with a game plan for the future. It is the purpose of this article to let the Members of the Nation know what the outcomes of these meetings are. Just to give everyone a little heads up though, the information listed here is only part of The Nations’ plans. As everyone knows, there are many visitors to this site (from both the Local and management), and with that, there are some things that must be kept confidential. But let us assure you, when the time is right, you will know what the plans are.
Moving along, as you can see, 223nation.com is going through a major overhaul. We are redesigning, and updating the site. This is probably going to be a pretty lengthy process and we would like to thank all of you for bearing with us through all of the construction. Once all the work is finished, it should be full of new information, easier to navigate, and much less crude. This whole web thing is a learning process for us. While none of us are web designers, we would like to think this site is far superior to the Local’s “award winning” website. That has already been proven with a mention in the Detroit News, as well as the amount of time that was spent discussing 223Nation and its Members at the last round of informational meetings.
Now on to bigger and better things, we know this new contract has pissed a lot of people off and they would like to know what they can do about it. Well, the answer that the Local would like to hear is nothing. But we would like to think that all of you know us better than that. While it is true that we cannot change the outcome and we are now stuck with this P.O.S.2 there are some things that we can look forward to in the upcoming future. One of those things being, Union Elections! There is about 10 months until the Divisional elections, and there are a lot of people that need to be unseated. There are positions in every Division that need to be filled with 223Nation Members that are looking to make a difference. In the near future, you can look forward to articles about who needs to stay and who needs to go.
Shortly after the Divisional elections, elections will be held for the Local Executive Board. As you can tell by the way things have been going; there needs to be a changing of the guard down at the Hall. We would like to say that there is one of our Officers that should stay, but we can’t. They are the ones who pushed 223Nation in the direction it has gone. And for that we would like to say thanks! While no plans have been made for elections, we here at the Nation are on top of the situation and we will keep everyone up to date.
Finally, one of the things we have been talking about is doing some fundraising. While running the website is not expensive, it is not cheap. And there are so many more things we would like to be able to offer everyone. We would like to have some quality swag available to purchase. In order to do that, we need some kind of investment capital. With saying that, look in the near future for some of the 223Nation fundraising projects. We have many ideas, like raffles and possibly the inaugural 223Nation Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament. 1 By “shocking” we really mean; we knew what the outcome was going to be, and are shocked that the Local actually had the audacity to only have 3 select Members “count” the ballots and then turn away Members who wanted to witness the actual count.
